György Cziffra ( 1921 - 1994 ) was born in Budapest, Hungary. He was well known for his fast, passionate, but sensitive recordings of Liszt. His own transcriptions of Chopin and Rachmaninov placed him as one of the greatest piano virtuosos. His son was a conductor and together they recorded and performed concertos, but his son's premature death rightfully had quite an impact on Cziffra's career.
