Seta Tanyel ( 1947 ) was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She studied at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik and subsequently studied with renowned pianist Louis Kentner. She gained prominence by performing well in the Beethoven and Rubinstein competitions in 1973 and 1974 respectively. She has recorded the works of the neglected composers Moszkowski and Scharwenka.
