Sergei Babayan ( 1961 ) was born in Gyumri, Armenia. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Vera Gornostayeva and Mikhail Pletnev. He signed with Deutsche Grammophon and recorded some of his own Prokofiev transcriptions with renowned pianist Martha Argerich.
