Aldo Ciccolini ( 1925 - 2015 ) was born in Naples, Italy. He studied at the Naples conservatory. In 1949 he co-won the 1949 Marguerite Long - Jacques Thibaud Competition which gave his name prominence. He would record primarily for EMI France and his discography include works by Satie, Alkan, Debussy and Liszt.
