Ekaterina Novitskaya ( 1951 ) was born in Moscow, Russia. She studied with Lev Oborin at the Moscow Conservatory and then at 16 she became the first woman ever to win the prodigious Queen Elizabeth piano competition. She would go on to record works by Prokofiev, Mozart and Scriabin to much acclaim.
