Ivo Pogorelic ( 1958 ) was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Although he did not win the Chopin Piano competition in 1980, the protest of acclaimed pianist Argerich eventually led to 1981 all Chopin Recital which was released by Deutche Grammophon. Contrast to Argerich, Pogorelich was more known for very slow tempos, and he continued to play Chopin, and also went on to record some of Bach's English Suites, Scarlatti's Sonatas, Prokofiev's 6th Sonata and the Tchaikovsky Concerto with Abbado and the London Symphony Orchestra.
