Halina Czerny-Stefańska ( 1922 - 2001 ) was born in Krakow, Poland. She studied Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris with Alfred Cortot. She began affiliated with Chopin after being a joint winner of the 1949 Chopin competition. She would go on to record works by Chopin, Beethoven and Mozart.
