Valery Afanassiev ( 1949 ) was born in Moscow, Russia. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and won the Queen Elisabeth competition in 1971. He recorded for Denon, Deutsche Grammophon and performed many chamber works with Gidon Kremer.
