Edwin Fischer ( 1886 - 1960 ) was born in Basel, Switzerland. He studied at the Stern conservatory under Martin Krause, a pupil of Franz Liszt. He recorded works by Beethoven, Bach and Mozart and was considered as one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.
