William Byrd ( 1543 - 1623 ) was an English composer. His compositions exemplify the European Renaissance era of music. His output of around 500 works consist of Psalms, Songs, Sonnets, and Keyboard pieces. Some of his works were performed by the renowned pianist Glenn Gould.
