Youri Egorov ( 1954 - 1988 ) was born in Kazan, USSR. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Yakov Zak, and would perform well in the Tchaikovsky and Queen Elisabeth competitions in 1974 and 1975 respectively. His recordings include composers Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, and Bach. His career was cut short as he fell victim to aids at the mere age of 34.
