André de Groote ( 1940 ) was born in Belgium. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. The 1968 Queen Elisabeth competition and association with the Tchaikovsky competition brought his name prominence. He would go on to record the complete sonatas of Beethoven, solo works of Brahms and concertos by Devereese and De Greef.
