Yundi Li ( 1982 ) was born in Sichuan, China. He studied at the Shenzhen Arts School and later at the Hochschule für Musik. In 2000 he won the first prize at the international Chopin competition which led to a contract with Deutsche Grammophon and launched his career. He has since recorded works by Chopin, Prokofiev and Liszt.
