Heinrich Neuhaus ( 1888 - 1964 ) was born in Yelisavetgrad, Russia. He was largely self taught, but also studied at the Vienna Academy of Music with Leopold Godowsky. He is best known for being a professor at the Moscow Conservatory from 1922 - 1964. His students included Sviatoslav Richter, Emil Gilels and Radu Lupu. His recordings include works by Scriabin, Brahms and Schumann.
