Grigory Ginsburg ( 1904 - 1961 ) was born in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory under Alexander Goldenweiser. He would win 4th prize at the 1927 Chopin competition which gave his name prominence. His recordings include works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. He is considered to be one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.
