Myung-whun Chung ( 1953 ) was born in Seoul, South Korea. He won joint second prize in the 1974 Tchaikovsky competition which gave his name prominence. He recorded works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Chopin under various labels. He also became a prominent conductor.
