Artur Schnabel ( 1882 - 1951 ) was born in Kunzendorf, Austria. He studied at Vienna's University of Music and Performing Arts and subsequently with Theodor Leschetisky. Schnabel would be the first to record Beethoven's 32 Sonatas and would be forever linked with the composer. In addition he recorded works by Brahms and Schubert.
