Günther Ludwig ( 1931 - 2007 ) was born in Großkrotzenburg, Germany. He studied at Musisches Gymnasium Frankfurt and subsequently with Marguerite Long. Performances at the Busoni competition in 1954 and 1955 gave his name prominence. He recorded works by Mozart and Beethoven.
