Michael Houstoun ( 1952 ) was born in Timaru, New Zealand. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. He performed well in both the major competitions Cliburn, Leeds and Tchaikovsky which gave his name prominence. His discography includes works by Beethoven, Rachmaninov and Mussorgsky.
