Barry Douglas ( 1960 ) was born in Belfast, Ireland. He won the Tchaikovsky Competition in 1986 which helped launch his career. He signed with RCA and recorded a variety of composers ranging from Beethoven to Reger over the course of nearly 10 years. He is currently signed with Chandos where he recorded the complete solo works of Brahms and is working on a Schubert solo piano cycle.
