Artur Rubinstein ( 1887 - 1982 ) was born in Łódź, Poland. He studied in Berlin with Karl Heinrich Barth who was a pupil of Liszt. He recorded heavily for RCA Victor and would become intricately linked with Chopin. His recordings include works by Brahms, Liszt and Schubert. He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.
