André Previn ( 1929 - 2019 ) was born in Berlin, Germany. As a pianist he recorded engaging performances of Mozart, Shostakovich and Poulenc. He was also a composer and his film compositions led to 4 Academy Awards and 10 Grammys. He also performed many Jazz works as a pianist and was a respected conductor.
