Radu Lupu ( 1945 - 2022 ) was born in Galati, Romania. He studied at the Moscow conservatory with both Henrich and Stanislav Neuhaus. He won the second Van Cliburn competition which gave his name prominence. Under the Decca label he recorded works that include composers Brahms, Beethoven and Schubert. He is considered by many to be one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century.
