Ossip Gabrilowitsch ( 1879 - 1936 ) was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia. He studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory with renowned composers Rubinstein, Lyadov, Medtner and subsequently in Vienna with Leschetitzky. His recordings for Welte-Mignon include his own compositions.
