Zoltán Kocsis ( 1952 - 2016 ) was born in Budapest, Hungary. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy. Winning the 1973 Liszt Prize and subsequently the Kossuth Prize in 1978 gave his name prominence. Between the Hungaraton and Philips labels he recorded works by Bartok, Grieg and Liszt among many others.
