Gary Graffman ( 1928 ) was born in New York City, New York. He studied at Columbia University and subsequently with the renowned pianist Rudolf Serkin. He won the 1949 Leventritt competition which gave his name prominence. Under the RCA Victor label he recorded works by Brahms, Chopin, Liszt and Beethoven.
