Hubert Giesen ( 1898 - 1980 ) was born in Kornelimünster, Germany. He studied at the Cologne Conservatory and subsequently Musikhochschule Stuttgart. He became a highly regarded lieder accompanist and performed many lieder for Beethoven and Schubert for the Deutsche Grammophon label.
