Gerhard Oppitz ( 1953 ) was born in Frauenau, Germany. He studied with the renowned pianist Wilhelm Kempff. In 1977 he won the Artur Rubinstein competition which gave his name prominence. His recordings include the complete solo works of Grieg and works by Beethoven, Brahms and Reger.
