Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli ( 1920 - 1995 ) was born in Brescia, Italy. He studied at the Milan Conservatory at the age of eleven and developed the reputation of being a perfectionist with his recordings. As a result he has few recordings, but he provided excellent renditions of Beethoven, Brahms and Debussy. He is widely regarded as one of the Great Pianists of the 20th Century despite only having a pretty limited repertoire.
