Lee Hoiby ( 1926 - 2011 ) was an American composer. He was a disciple of the renowned composer Gian Carlo Menotti and also studied at the Curtis Institute of Music. Although he is best known for his songs, his piano compositions include preludes, a toccata, nocturne and two concertos.
