Nicolas Economou ( 1953 - 1993 ) was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. He was a promising young pianist and composer. He composed a transcription of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite for two pianos and recorded it with Martha Argerich. He also performed and recorded a set of etudes for children. His career was cut short tragically as he was killed in an automobile accident.
